Uraninite and pitchblende nasturane (uranium resin, uranium resin ore), - oxide uranium. Hardness on the Mohs scale 5-6, in the strongly changed state to 3. Closeness in a crystalline kind (Uraninite) 8-10, as dense wandering aggregates (pitchblende nasturane) 6,5-8,5. Glance (glitter, glare) resinous, fat to metalloid. It is also dim, opaque. A blackish mineral that is a type of uraninite and occurs in veins, frequently associated with silver: the principal source of uranium and radium.

Colors: pitch-black with a violet tint, in the oxidized kind is greenish, yellow or orange. A line is brown-black or dark-green. Fracture, break uneven. Fragile. Cleavage non-existent, strongly radio-active. It most dangerous mineral. Uraninite a blackish heavy radioactive mineral consisting of uranium oxide in cubic crystalline form together with radium, lead, helium, etc. occurs in coarse granite.

Accumulates in pegmatites (Uraninite) and in hydrothermal deposits (pitchblende nasturane). The crystals of Uraninite (cube Crystal structure) are rare, have a cube habitus, usually in joint, junction. Modified.

Dense aggregates (pitchblende nasturane) name also resin blende, as powder of the masses and soot raids (in mixture with other minerals of uranium) - by uranium nielli. Important ore of uranium and radium. Places of distribution: Ore mountains (Germany and Czekh), France, Shaba (Zaire), Republic of South Africa, province Ontario (Canada), state Colorado (USA), Mexico, Australia. The largest "point" and vein, lode, mine supplies of uranium (Uraninite, "Wolf's stone", "Predatory, Raptorial stone") are in Ukraine (Europe, CIS) is the Volodarsk-Volynskiy pegmatitic field of the Zhitomir region (Ukraine, CIS) - wilful "walks" and visit of this deposit without the specially trained explorers are categorically forbidden are the so-called "Eliseyskie fields", glorified in the most known poems of Old Roman creation !! Famous uranium mines and mines of the Lugansk region of south-east part of Ukraine, CIS are also dangerous the general high (diffuse) level of radiation is the known place of "underground" pilgrimage Odyssey ("gate of Hell, Hades, Gehenna" and "included in Hell") - the wilful stoppings without special permit licence are strictly forbidden.

Radio-active mineral. Crystallized mainly in form cubes and cuboctahedron, now and then as single octahedrons and rhombohedrons. Can meet also as dendrite aggregates and shallow crystals or continuous the masses, having a grainy or concretionary structure, as at the variety of Uraninite - uranium resin.

Uranium (U) 88% (=104% U3O8); because of oxidization and radioactive-decay there is more oxygen in a mineral, what it corresponds the formula of UO2. A mineral is contained by radium (Ra), an actinium (Ac), polonium (Po) and other elements, is products of radioactive-decay of isotopes of uranium. Form of crystals. Cubes, octahedrons, rhombic-dodecahedron shape (diamond forms), crystals are rare. Crystalline structure. A crystalline lattice corresponds the lattice of Fluorite. Class of symmetry of Hexaoctahedral group - mЗm. Aggregates. Dense the masses, kidney-shaped reniform and tuber-like, tuberiform formations.

   Diagnostic indication.

Most dangerous stone !! Easily changes and modified on air and in water. Crystals here at first lose primary brilliance, after transformed in mixture of the second minerals of orange-yellow and hazel color (humite). It is impossible to keep in offices and home terms. Dangerous even in museum displays.

 Physical characteristics of Uraninite.

Most dangerous radio-active mineral, "devouring" a flesh, especially stone of noticeable size (norm of natural radiation - 17-24 milliroentgen/hour). By the enhanceable level of radiation of stone and minerals is level of radiation from 29-32 milliroentgen/hour and higher. On the right is a sign of potential radiation danger (Ukraine, CIS, K.305).

Transportation (slang is "Pilgrimage") of uranium and Uraninite without the special sign (marks) of radiation danger (image of "radioactive" (in Ukrainian, CIS, in nuclear power plant and other) on the right) and special convoy, escort (including special screens) is categorically forbidden is the most dangerous very radio-active ore on uranium !! To develop uranium it is categorically forbidden wilfully. For the wilful illegal handling this most dangerous mineral and for the waiver of implementation of directive orders of the authorized public servants (on uranium) criminal responsibility is foreseen in Ukraine.

It is forbidden to touch Uraninity hands - this mineral eats away a flesh, causes telephiums (including trophic on a skin and in an intestine at a reception inward) and real destruction of living tissues !!! In any case, from considering of safety and ecofriendlyness, it is forbidden to carry these radioactive stone and minerals and especially to hold them in an apartment or working cabinet standards (a house and apartment is a not mineralogical museum with the possible level of radiation from 32 to 120 milliroentgen/hour and higher for special exposition and mineralogical special safe, storage, depository, depot, storehouse, repository state institutions, where it is settled at presence of warnings denotations and special statements of workers of these specialized establishments). This mineral and his derivates transport only in the special containers, including leaden slang is "Led Zeppelin" (Ukraine, CIS) and leaden containers-boxes (slang is "Coffin" & "The Holy Sepulchre" and "Leader", Russia, CIS).

A radiation from a point source and small object decreases proportionally to the square of distance to this object. Stepping back on 2 meters from a dangerous object, you will decrease the level of study from this object in 4 times. Dangerous in nuclear war-heads, especially opened basing - to befit nearer 10 meters to uranium are categorically forbidden. Stepping back on 10 meters, you will decrease the level of radiation from uranium in 100 times. If an object, containing uranium, has a point radiant 9000 milliroentgen/hour at the natural background of radiation of environment 19 milliroentgen/hour (totally 9000 + 19 = 9019 milliroentgen/hour), stepping back from a dangerous object on 10 meters, you will secure itself to the level of radiation 90 milliroentgen/hour from an object and 19 milliroentgen/hour from an environment (total a general level of radiation from an object and environment will be 90 + 19 = 109 milliroentgen/hour).

Most dangerous is a direct contact with a body and carrying on the body of point and diffuse radio-active sources and components, containing uranium - especially hydatogenesis (an about 50% radiation is taken in at a contact with the external surface of body and an about 100% radiation - at a reception into a radio-active or infected object). Most dangerous is a direct contact and reception into radio-active components, stone and minerals, including in the pounded kind and soluble in a liquid. All of wilful injections of radio-active preparations are categorically forbidden. It dangerous for life and health stone and minerals, causing incurable without surgery disorders of health at a direct contact with them !!

   Origin provenance genesis.

The crystals of Uraninite are characteristic for pegmatites and some ore deposits. Uranium resin, opposite, is presented mainly in hydrothermal vein, lode, mines, containing the minerals of silver, cobalt, nickel and Bi mainly. Be found also in basic sediments deposits. Concomitant minerals. Uranium mica (otanite, cuprouranite, torbernite), galena, galenite, chalcopyrite, Molybdenite, chloanthite (a form of nickel arsenide having commercial importance as a nickel ore), native Bi, Pyrargerite, aerosite, Barite, will break a secret, Fluorite, Siderite, Quartz and other

   Deposit minefield mine and use.

In Italy (EU) the shallow crystals of Uraninite are known from pegmatites of Montesheno (Valleantrone, Verbaniya) and Pimeon (lake of Komo). The exceptional on sizes (to 20 sm) crystals of Uraninite are found in Shinkolobve (province of Shaba, Zaire). Uraninite is main ore on uranium. Extraordinarily radio-active.
